Buderus is a heating technology brand from Wetzlar, Germany, whose company history goes back to 1731 and which has been part of the Bosch Home Comfort Group since 2003. Its Logatherm heat pump range consists mainly of air-to-water units (WLW166i, 176i, 186i with R290, WLW196i with R410A, the larger WLW276) and brine-to-water units (WSW186i).

Buderus Air-to-water monoblock
The whole refrigerant circuit sits in one outdoor unit; only water pipes run into the house. The most common choice for retrofits, because no refrigerant lines need to be installed inside.

Buderus Ground-source (brine/water)
Draws heat from a borehole or ground loop, so the source stays at a steady temperature all winter. Higher efficiency and no outdoor noise, but boreholes cost money and need a permit.
